Our Story
Big Rome Running was birthed from a blog created by Jerome Scales to document his love of racing. Jerome was a staple in the Atlanta running community, certified coach, and Atlanta Track Club board member for many years. He would faithfully use his taglines #OneMileAtATime and #KeepRunning to inspire people both online and in real life. After Jerome was diagnosed with cancer in 2016 he continued to inspire people from all walks of life. The logos and designs for our apparel were all crafted by Jerome for his own personal t-shirts he would regularly wear after treatments.
Jerome passed away on June 20, 2019 at the age of 48. Since his passing there have been numerous races, internships, and scholarships established in his honor with Delta Airlines, Atlanta Track Club, Atlanta Southside Runners, and Revolution Running, etc. Big Rome Running apparel and 501(c)(3) nonprofit is Jerome's living legacy ran by his surviving wife and three children. With every purchase, part of the proceeds go towards college scholarships for athletes running cross country or long distance track and field.
